This annual event saves cats around the world. Here’s how you can help.

Did you know that over 3 million cats enter US shelters every year?

An estimated one million of these cats fail. However, TNR programs are working to reduce this number by capturing, neutering or neutering, vaccination, and disease treatment for wild and stray cats. These cats will then either be returned to their colony or will find a home forever.

By fixing these community cats, TNR supporters break the kitten cycle and decrease the number of cats that come to tragic ends.

To advance the spay and neuter mission, Alley Cat Rescue is hosting their 11th annual Feral Fix Challenge.

Alley Cat Rescue Feral Fix Challenge

In 2010, Alley Cat Rescue hosted the first Feral Cat Spay Day (FCSD) in the hope of encouraging the veterinary community to “provide free and affordable TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return”) services to those who care for cats in the community. to offer).

Feral Cat Spay Day was a success and lasted each year through 2017 when the one-day event morphed into the month-long challenge that we now know.

Alley Cat Rescue said, “To date, more than 1,100 participants in the US and around the world have neutered or neutered nearly 60,000 cats in the community under this program.”

And now the Feral Fix Challenge is open for 2021!

After the challenging 2020, which saw shutdowns and quarantines being enforced, wild cat colonies remained uncontrolled and caused an explosion in their population. With spring and summer approaching, kitten season is almost back and it is likely to be busy again.

“Unsterilized cats are also suffering from this pandemic, and over 50% of kittens born on the street get sick and die. For this reason, it is now more important than ever that veterinarians get through this crisis as quickly as possible. “
