Shaky kitten with a determined effort returns on its paws and walks again

A little wobbly kitten sat back on its paws and walked again. Now he is ready for a new chapter in life.

A small kitten was brought to the NOVA Cat Clinic in Arlington, Virginia to have a better life. “He was given to us because he was experiencing some decline and was acting a little neurologically with a soft lump on the back of his head,” Ellen Carozza, licensed veterinary technician, told Love Meow.

The little ball of fur was very wobbly and extraordinarily small for its age. Although he had difficulty asserting himself, he was very determined and had a strong will to live.

Ellen named the kitten Finn and added her to her charity program, the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Foundation, so that the little guy could get the best care to change his life.

After thorough examinations and tests, they discovered an abscess behind his ear (caused by a beta-hemolytic strep infection) and that he did not have a congenital defect or head trauma.

Finn was given the right medication right away and was tube fed 24/7 to make sure he was getting all of the nutrients he needed to heal.

Along with other therapies and treatments, the kitten moved its legs and tried to stand up. Although he was still a bit shaky, he was thrilled with his newfound strength.

A week after its trip, the kitten was strong enough to eat on its own. He started running and wasted no time making good use of his growing leg muscles. Every day was a new, small achievement.

“Finn gained weight, learned to walk and held himself like a normal kitten,” shared Ellen Love Meow. “He liked to sit in his basket and watch the world go by while he learned how to stand without wobbling.”

As soon as Finn found his booth, he just went on and tried and didn’t let anything stop him.

If he fell while practicing his gait, he would get up and try again. “In two weeks he learned how to stand up again and made an amazing effort to walk.”

The little fighter reached one milestone after another. He figured out the litter box all by himself and successfully switched to solid food. Now Finn had one goal in mind – to walk and jump with ease and mount things like any other kitten.

“He’s getting better every day and slowly showing us his adorable personality,” wrote Ellen.

The kitten, which could barely stand upright, has turned into a playful, wild ball of energy. He will climb anything he can put his paws on and has a lovable personality that captivates every heart he meets.

Finn the kitten

Finn enjoys watching bird TV by the big window. He’ll climb the scratching post and snuggle up in his comfortable loaf bed for the best view.

The cute kitten always surprises its people with what it can do.

At the end of the day, Finn demands to be tucked under Ellen’s jacket for a longer cuddle session.

“This is his favorite place to nap,” said Ellen.

He no longer needs help to sit up straight, but scurries across the room as if he owns it. He’s even met a little dog buddy and can wrestle with the puppy himself.

After weeks of hard work, Finn is ready to find a place of his own and share his adventures with the family of his dreams.

He is eight weeks old and his personality shows through.

Finn loves people and other furry friends and is a professional lap cat.

“He loves to cuddle, enjoys zoom meetings and even online school. He’s great with cats and dogs,” added Ellen.

It’s amazing how far he has come since the day he was rushed to the clinic.

Not only has he bounced back on his paws, but he’s also thriving and excelling at every kitten thing.
