Adorable cat finds people helping her only kitten, she can’t stop smiling
A tabby is so lucky to find a family that it can trust it to help out with its only kitten.
In early March, a long haired tabby named Scarlet was taken to Ashley’s Kitten Academy (a volunteer-run animal rescue facility in Seattle, Washington) along with her only kitten, Scout.
She was very nervous and scared at first, but when she met her foster family, she started to relax and even started purring. Scout was only a few days old and received undivided attention from his mother. Scarlet wrapped herself around her only kitten and showered him with love.
“It’s not often that I have a mother with a baby. This little boy is so spoiled,” Ashley Morrison, founder of Ashley’s Kitten Academy, told Love Meow. “Scarlet needed urgent medical attention. She had a suspicious large lump on her side and a matted stain on the other.”
After a trip to the vet, they were able to treat the lump that turned out to be an abscess and get the cute tabby cat back on track.
With proper care, good food, and comfortable accommodation, Scarlet’s appetite quickly improved. She came out of her shell and her true personality began to develop.
The cute mother cat is measuring her upper canines and showing some of the most adorable looks on her face. She often sticks out her tongue while going about her day.
“She’s happy to see me when I walk in the room and start purring and looking for back scratches,” Ashley told Love Meow.
When Scarlet recovered, she ate like a champion, had a lot more energy, and was able to focus on raising her little mini self. The kitten quickly spotted its purr and used it every time it groomed its mother.
As Scout continued to gain weight and strength, he began to waddle and scout. Scarlet would cheer him on with a gentle nudge on his back, as if telling him to move on.
At three weeks, Scout almost hit the one-pound mark. Scarlet made sure he never missed a meal, and it showed. “He’s tall for his age, but I’m not surprised since he’s the only one at the milk bar,” shared Ashley.

As Scout got bigger and more adventurous, Scarlet found her inner kitty too and began to spend more time playing games.
“For the last few nights when I was in bed I could hear something in your room.”
Ashley pocketed a camera and saw Scarlet fetch the zoomies and toss their toys around. Once she pulled all the toys together, she carried them back to the nest and shared them with Scout.
“She has more toys now and I can’t wait to give her more space to play with,” shared Ashley Love Meow.
While the kitten works to perfect his gait, Scarlet is always around and watches over him. “Scarlet is a great mother and Scout is a very plump, happy little boy. She cares so much about him.”
The sweet mother and son duo thrive in caregiving.
Scarlet has really blossomed since the day she arrived. She enjoys having her stomach rubbed and greets her foster family with her characteristic smile every day.
Scout learns to smile like his mother. “He’s so valuable and he gets more personality every day.”
